========================================================== ========================================================== HayekHeaven.net Salma Hayek Newsletter January 2002 http://www.hayekheaven.net Issue 01/02 ========================================================== COMMENTS BY JACINDA Unfortunately I've been very busy lately, but I tried my best to cover recent events. Salma made several public appearances in January - most notably at the Critics' Choice Awards. It was wonderful to see her so happy about her nomination. We could also see her as the new face of Ford's Lincoln LS Sedan campaign. Once again she has come up with a pair of classy TV commercials. We won't see her as the new Bond girl, so her next project seems to be Salman Rushdie's 'The Ground Beneath Her Feet' which was said to start shooting January 28. I'll keep you updated... // Jacinda ========================================================== UPCOMING EVENTS IN FEBRUARY 4 // 'Collateral Damage' Premiere Mann Village, 961 Broxton Avenue, Westwood ========================================================== WEBSITE UPDATES JANUARY 2002 NEWSSTAND -=-=LATEST NEWS-=-= Salma Hayek Screen-Tested for Bond20 Berry and Pike in Bond 20 Critics' Choice Awards on E! With Pierce Brosnan unable to attend the auditions actor Colin Salmon, who plays Charles Robinson in the series, took his place. The audition piece, much like past auditions, was Tatiana Romanova's seduction of Bond in his hotel room from the second film in the series "From Russia With Love". "I really enjoyed the audition with Saffron Burrows," Salmon said about the audition, "and Salma Hayek was great. Sophie Ellis Bextor came along too but I can't tell you any more it would be more than my job's worth." With a rumoured filming location of Spain it's very possible that Hayek may have a role in Bond 20. A casting announcement is expected this month. Source: CommanderBond.net January 12 Berry and Pike in Bond 20 At yesterday's Bond 20 press conference neither Saffron Burrows nor Salma Hayek were mentioned at all. Rosamund Pike will star next to Halle Berry and Pierce Brosnan. If there is going to be a third Bond girl EON is keeping the actress a secret. Details of the press conference can be found at CommanderBond.net January 12 Critics' Choice Awards on E! Judy Davis took home the award for best actress in a picture made for television. Tune in January 14, 7 ET/PT on E! January 16 Definitely no Bond girl "Bond girls. Tabloids and Internet sites were rife with fierce speculation over which women would share the screen with Brosnan, but eventual star Halle Berry actually snagged one of the coveted roles without even auditioning. ''I wish all my roles came as easy as this one,'' Berry said. (The other female Bond lead is a newcomer, British TV actress Rosamund Pike, who will be making her big-screen debut.) Still, other actresses did come close, director Lee Tamahori said. He really liked Salma Hayek, and British pop star Sophie Ellis Bextor was "dangerously close" to getting a part."
